A Daughter’s Inheritance
By Tracie Peterson, Judith Miller

BACK COVER:

Lose yourself in the history, opulence, and elegance of the Thousand Islands.

Cousins Amanda, Sophie, and Fanny Broadmoor are as close as sisters, but when their grandfather dies, the terms of his will just might destroy their bond. Seventeen-year-old Fanny has never put much stock in the conventions of society. In fact, she has given her heart to Michel, the family boat-keeper. But when she receives a surprising inheritance, she discovers just how oppressive society can be …and that she may be trusting the wrong people.

Dare she follow her heart and risk going against her family? What if she loses everything she’s ever known? It all comes down to one choice: What does Fanny Broadmoor want her legacy to be?

REVIEWER’S COMMENTS:

A Daughter’s Inheritance is a wonderful beginning to a new historical series written by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. Looking back to a time when ladies adorned themselves with the latest of fashion, attended fancy dinners and played croquet in the lush grounds of their wealthy homes, this first book of the Broadmoor Legacy Series transports the reader back through time. The location of the story-the Broadmoor Islands, sets the stage for the wealthy and elite to come together.

Fanny, Sophie and Amanda-the main characters of the book, come equipped with unique personalities in the way they view love, marriage, their wealth, and the world around them. Fanny Broadmoor, at the shock of many of her family members, receives a large inheritance upon the death of her grandfather. Jonas Broadmoor, her new legal guardian, feels that the inheritance that Fanny has been given is entirely too large-especially for an unmarried woman. Jonas, motivated by greed, wants to relieve Fanny of her inheritance in any way possible. At one attempt even going as far as to try and have her disinherited from the family.

Fanny remains a peaceable and positive spirit through the highs and lows of her life. As she struggles with becoming an independent woman of wealth, Fanny is also pressured to marry with-in her society. However, her heart is drawn toward a childhood friend who is, according to her uncle Jonas, unfit to marry into the Broadmoor family.

As a fan of historical fiction and romance I could relate to the characters of this story very easily, and look forward to the next books in this series to see how Fanny, Sophie and Amanda fair at finding true love.
